Maximilian Suppantschitsch created landscape paintings and etchings. From 1884 to 1891 he was a disciple of Eduard von Lichtenfels at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. After several study trips through Europe he stayed for almost the whole of his life closely connected to the Wachau where he created a large part of his work. His drawing "Cottage in Senftenberg" excels in its technical perfection. Apart from drawings, Maximilian Suppantschitsch created atmospheric, impressionist landscape paintings. He was awarded numerous prizes and medals for his exhibitions. In 1935 Maximilian Suppantschitsch was made freeman of the city of Duernstein. From 1897 on Maximilian Suppantschitsch was a member of Vienna's Künstlerhaus. He was one of the founders of the Hagenbund whose member he was from 1900 to 1905.
Numerous Austrian museums and private collections are in possession of the much sought-after painter.
