Reinhold Ludwig Krassnig (Krassnigg) was born in 1898 in Linz (Austria). He studied from 1916 to 1921 under Bacher, Jettmar and Tichy at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. In the following seven years he turned away from art but restarted in 1928 as a freelance artist. In the early 1930s Reinhold Ludwig Krassnig (Krassnigg) initiated and organised an exhibition of Austrian art at the Association of Fine Arts in Prague. In 1931 he received the Austrian State Prize and joined the Vienna Künstlerhaus. In 1937 Reinhold Ludwig Krassnig (Krassnigg) travelled to Mallorca for the first time but returned to Austria and settled in Styria during World War II. There he acquired "Tausendlust Palace", a property surrounded by vineyards. Around 1947 he moved to Mallorca where he worked as a painter and vegetable grower. He called himself after his mothers maiden name Luis Masser. Eventually he purchased the Palacio de Elsedo in Santander which dates back to the 13th century. Reinhold Ludwig Krassnig (Krassnigg) died in 1968 in Santander.
His paintings are property of the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, of the Joanneum in Graz and of museums in Barcelona, Ljubljana, Los Angeles and Detroit.
