Robin Christian Andersen was born on the 17 July 1890 in Vienna. First taught by his danish father, Christian Georgius Andersen, he later attended Scheffer's and Bauer's schools of painting in Vienna. Together with A. Faistauer and G. Schütt he went on a study trip to Italy. Along with Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Anton Kolig and Anton Faistauer Anderson was a member of the Neukunstgruppe. In 1918 he was appointed Secretary of the "Sonderbund" and later joined the Salzburg artist association "Der Wassermann". He was co-founder of Vienna's Gobelin factory and a member of the Hagenbund as well as of the Vienna Secession. For a short peroid of time he was principal at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts where he held painting classes from 1945 to 1965.
Robin Christian Andersen thmes were still lives and landscapes. He died in Vienna in 1969.
